Project Brief
The Walden School in Media, Pennsylvania, provides a Montessori education. One of the goals of this video was to capture what differentiates the them from traditional schools. The other was to capture the thoughts and warmth of its founder Mary LeFever.
The Challenge
The methods of Montessori education, while very holistic and individualized, aren’t common knowledge to most. Filming in traditional educational environments is something we do well, but for this project, we needed to collaborate with faculty and staff to accurately capture their process.
The Solution
Working with art direction from art270, we combined traditional storyboarding and narrative filming techniques and weaved them into a documentary approach of classroom scenes and interviews of alumni and faculty to paint an accurate representation of their unique approach to education.
